A 130k tree lined trip from Lakes entrance to Cann River (yep I've never heard of it either..) And I somehow don't think there will ever be a need to return here...one street and a community hall with the simplest (and that's polite) accommodation I have ever seen.
We averaged 28kmh today, had 13 climbs (one was 8.6km at 3% gradient...not a Hotham , but still a good test after 110km (and no chance to psychologically prepare for it!!) We climbed 1700m of vertical and it took just under 5 hours ride time.
Some of the boys are hurting now...this old codger is ok for now though...although tomorrow looks a monster...180km with a 40km climb to start with, while we finish in Cooma. Distance covered in the 3 days is now 490km.

Only 600 to go....

Today saw us leave Lakes Entrance for Cann River. We left early and were bitterly cold until our first stop in Orbost for a quick coffee.  It was then another climb fest for the next 75kms to Cann River. Beautiful scenery but quite cold and fairly hilly still. We were lucky with the weather. The predicted rain held off. We climbed another 1700mts over 135kms. Tomorrow will again be a big climbing day with some 2000mts to be climbed and some 173kms to be covered.

Day 3 – Lakes Entrance to Cann River

After great accommodation and meal we headed off in 2 groups due to the undulations we were told about. It was a cold day and got colder as a front is moving through. Thankfully wind was not a factor but the undulations saw us go up 1700m on a 136km day. The first pack was just leaving the coffee shop as we arrived for coffee and they had ridden really well only losing 10mins of the 35min lead. Then we had a great break in a town called Orbust really nice then off again with a few boys getting fatigued during the second half due to the many hills. We arrived about 15mins back from the first group and all had a good day but happy to be back in town and resting. The awards tonight will be really funny as there were many things that happened on the road today that were noted by the team on duty.
