Today was overall an easy day. We started early – 7:00 am, as the filming of the ‘Getaway’ segment was going to take quite a bit of time. It was bitterly cold and the mercury remained around 1 degree until morning tea at Bredbo. Giaan Rooney rode with us for that part of the trip and again at a few other segments. The riding was reasonably easy with mostly rolling hills. Overall we climbed some 1074m but the weather was kind with no wind and plenty of sunshine. We arrived in Canberra at about 4:20 pm after a wonderful lunch in Queanbeyan.
Tonight we are the guests of the Crowne Plaza Canberra who have kindly donated both the accommodation (absolutely superb) and a wonderful dinner. We arrived in our rooms to be greeted by a wonderful choice of cold beverages and a plate of fresh fruit. How nice is that.
Thank you Matt.
Tomorrow is the penultimate day. A long day, that will take us from Canberra to Mittagong some 174 kms. Let’s hope for some good weather.
Regards from the Tour.

Day 5 – Cooma to Canberra
The day was dominated by the Getaway show and Giane Rooney who was great. They interviewed Steve Wooldridge and Warwick Waugh and she road with us at various spots on the way. The temp when we started was 2C and freezing then warmed to 20C later in the Day. Frankie had a little fall trying to push someone and will be justly given the Cobra II tonight at dinner (a red BMX helmet from the 80’s) to wear tomorrow. Cracker day though with great recovery for all before a big one tomorrow! Warwick Waugh has organised some really big promotion tonight at the Brumbies/Chiefs game here in Canberra so that should be great.
Well hope you enjoyed the update I did not intend to make it this long when I started – have a good one lads and wish you were all here sharing the camaraderie
Regards
Gibbo
PS I have very hairy legs at the moment and am sure they will not be hairy when I arrive in Sydney – it will not be pretty I think big Warwick Waugh has something special in mind!!
